TURBOMACHINERY IPA

In the not so distant past, a mashup of SoCal and PNW IPA styles might have raised some eyebrows. What would be more prominent– the lean, stanky-danky California version or the piney and resinous richness of the Northwest? Long gone are those days. We are all West Coast IPA brewers now, and we’re for the better for it. Brewers across regions have taken each other’s tips and tricks to heart, and with the help of some enterprising hop merchants and beer evangelists, West Coast IPA is more aromatic, flavorful, complex, nuanced, and glorious than at any other point in human history.

Into this space, we offer this new collaboration IPA Turbomachinery, that we brewed with our friends from Beachwood Brewing of Long Beach. The idea for this beer sprung from the minds of our brewing team in conversation with Beachwood’s Julian Shrago. Julian and our brewmaster Ben have been friends for many years and collaborated on beers in the past, but this is the first time they have made an IPA together. They chose three hops that lean heavy into grapefruit flavors: ruby red from Chinook, pith-forward Simcoe, and Riwaka with its Fresca-like zippiness. You’ll also get notes of peach melba, spruce, and a little cattiness. The malt bill? Lean and clean. And, of course, the beer is dry, bitter, and clear as can be. Cheers!
