A Series To Support Great Nonprofits Across the PNW

Breakside is proud to continue our series of beers benefiting non-profit organizations here in the Pacific
Northwest. The concept is simple: we’ll make a great beer, and we can use it to support an even better
cause. What better way to use the Breakside platform than to highlight and support folks in our community
who are doing great work for our community?

Our fourth partner in this series of rotating beers and charities is the The Surfrider Foundation. Surfrider
is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s ocean, waves and beaches, for all people,
through a powerful activist network.

This new IPA seems straightforward– mid-strength, modern combo of NW and NZ hops — but it has a lot
going on beneath the surface. We’re playing around in some of our favorite areas to tinker and explore
within the sandbox of modern hoppy beer here: can you make an IPA at a slightly lower ABV (I mean we’re
talking 6.7 vs 7.1, but it’s a real gap!) that checks all of the boxes for modern WC IPA? What is the most
modern “American IPA” you can imagine, and what defines it? What happens when you marry the malt bill
of an American IPA with a hop schedule that is squarely modern WC? Can a little more T90 add some
texture and structure to a beer that has a slightly lighter body? As you can see, we’re having fun here and
supporting a great cause!
