Oktoberfest

GERMAN FESTBIER LAGER

In 2018, the Breakside crew traveled to Munich during Oktoberfest and enjoyed liter upon liter of the magnificent festbiers that are available this time of year.  We may not be able to bring the full experience of Oktoberfest to Portland, but we can do our best to recreate the beer at the heart of the celebration. Historical Oktoberfest beers are dark and rich and they are very tasty but filling.  Contemporary German versions are lighter and more refreshing, and our Oktoberfest falls squarely in this vein, with an emphasis on toasty sweet Munich malt and floral German hops. It is quite a bit closer to the style of Oktoberfestbier that is currently produced in Munich, and it’s meant for enjoyment with friends and strangers during these last days of summer and cooling days of autumn before the rainy season sets in.
